IoT Community®

The Ecosystem Behind IoT Slam®

IoT Community® is one of the world’s largest practitioner ecosystems dedicated to advancing the adoption of connected technologies, edge computing, and AI-enabled operational systems.

Bringing together enterprise operators, technology providers, developers, and innovators, the community provides a trusted environment where experts share real-world insights, explore emerging architectures, and collaborate on the future of connected systems.

With 50,000+ practitioners, executives, and industry leaders worldwide, the IoT Community powers the ecosystem behind IoT Slam®, IoT Practitioner®, and the Centres of Excellence.

A Global Community for Connected Innovation

Connected technologies are reshaping how organizations build and operate real-world systems.

From manufacturing and logistics to energy, healthcare, mobility, and smart infrastructure, IoT, AI, edge computing, and distributed networks are converging to create intelligent operational environments.

The IoT Community provides a collaborative platform where leaders across this ecosystem can:

  • share real-world deployment insights

  • explore emerging architectures and technologies

  • collaborate across industries and disciplines

  • help shape the future of connected systems

The goal is simple: accelerate the adoption of intelligent connected infrastructure across industries.

How the Ecosystem Works

IoT Slam® is produced by the IoT Community and serves as the flagship event platform bringing the ecosystem together.

Through its events, knowledge initiatives, and collaborative working groups, the IoT Community provides the foundation for the conversations that take place at IoT Slam.

The ecosystem is built around three core pillars:

IoT Slam®

Industry Conferences and Executive Dialogues

IoT Slam® is the flagship conference series of the IoT Community, bringing together leaders from across the connected technology ecosystem to explore how IoT, AI, edge computing, and connected infrastructure are transforming industries.

Launched in 2015, IoT Slam is widely recognized as the first virtual IoT conference and remains one of the longest-running independent event brands in the IoT market.

The series includes:

  • IoT Slam Live – in-person executive gatherings

  • IoT Grand Slam – global virtual conference

  • Industry roundtables and leadership briefings

Together, these programs create opportunities for practitioners to exchange insights, build relationships, and explore the future of connected systems.

IoT Practitioner®

Knowledge and Industry Insights

IoT Practitioner® serves as the knowledge platform of the IoT Community, providing expert insight, research, and thought leadership across the connected technology landscape.

Through articles, interviews, and industry perspectives, it helps technology leaders stay informed about the architectures, strategies, and market shifts shaping the future of connected systems.

Topics include:

  • IoT architecture and deployment strategies

  • AI and edge computing

  • Industrial and enterprise IoT

  • Security and governance

  • Emerging technologies shaping connected infrastructure

Centers of Excellence

Collaborative Industry Working Groups

The IoT Community operates a number of Centers of Excellence (CoEs) focused on specific areas of connected technology innovation.

These groups bring together experts from across the ecosystem to explore challenges, share insights, and develop practical guidance for organizations deploying connected systems.

Current Centers of Excellence include areas such as:

  • Converged Edge Architectures
  • Mobility and Connectivity
  • Security for Connected Infrastructure
  • Industrial IoT and Smart Manufacturing
  • Smart Infrastructure and Utilities
  • GenAIoT – Generative AI for Connected Systems

These groups play a key role in shaping the discussions that take place at IoT Slam events.

An Ecosystem of Technology Leaders and Practitioners

The IoT Community brings together participants from across the connected technology ecosystem, including:

  • Enterprise operators deploying connected systems
  • Technology companies building IoT and AI platforms
  • Connectivity providers enabling next-generation networks
  • System integrators delivering large-scale digital transformation
  • Start-ups and innovators exploring new technologies

This diversity of perspectives helps create meaningful conversations about how connected systems are being built and deployed in the real world.

A Trusted Environment for Industry Collaboration

The IoT Community was founded on the principle that meaningful collaboration happens when participants engage as peers and practitioners.

Community discussions focus on real-world insights, practical lessons, and shared learning rather than vendor marketing presentations.

It is a trusted environment where members can, in effect, leave badges at the door and engage in honest conversations about what works, what does not, and what comes next for connected systems.

Join the Conversation at IoT Slam

IoT Slam events bring together leaders from across the IoT Community ecosystem to explore how IoT, AI, edge computing, and connected infrastructure are shaping the future of operational systems.

Whether attending as a practitioner, speaker, or partner, participants gain access to insights and conversations that help accelerate innovation across industries.
