Simplifying Industrial Automation with NATS

Session Abstract:

Connecting plant machinery across multiple locations as a single fabric presents security and networking connectivity challenges, and we present an option to reduce attack surfaces, reduce networking requirements and empower system designers and operators with capabilities found in public cloud systems, enabling rapid innovation. Whether you’re in industrial manufacturing, power distribution or controlling train track switchovers, it is advantageous to pull data as near to real time as possible, distributing it to decision making processes without adding any further load to the points of control such as the underlying PLCs. Maybe a new scenario has presented itself where you need a simple point of control to override a system. We will show you how a single NATS fabric can be used as an organisationally wide, secure and performant fabric for gathering data and controlling devices through simple, repeatable architectural units. See how NATS is distributed by design, easy to operate and an enabler for your organisation.

Speaker:

David Gee is a Synadia Solutions Engineer and is on a mission to show the power of NATS through focussed solutions, education and community. David’s career started in electronics and instrumentation engineering and since then has been a set of pendulum swings across the decades between communication technologies and software, spending the last few cycles in the computer network vendor space, working on network automation, programmability and telemetry systems.
