Bill Mortimer is Vice President of Strategic Marketing for the wireless, positioning, service assurance businesses at Spirent Communications. He is currently working on developing new businesses in the Internet of Things, Connected Car and Mobile Service Assurance & Customer Experience. Prior to joining Spirent, he worked as a General Manager for 7 years in the Communications Test business at JDSU and 14 years at Hewlett Packard and Agilent Technologies in Canada, USA and Germany. Earlier in his career, he worked at Bell Northern Research, Manitoba Telephone System and Idacom Electronics. He has a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from the University of Manitoba. Bill is a Canadian, and has lived and worked in Sindelfingen, Germany for the last 14 years.
Marc Wilkinson is the business leader for the combined portfolios delivering traditional managed workplace services and enterprise mobility services in Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services (ES). In this role, Marc provides the overall business leadership and strategy for all services across the Enterprise Mobility Management, Managed Workplace services and enabling technologies. His team manages the strategy, portfolio management, and service design and engineering. Additionally, Marc is part of the ES Office of the Chief Technology Office, where he leads the emerging technologies group that focuses on introducing innovation from the Applied Innovation team, HP Labs, or other organizations into the ES portfolio of services and capabilities. Marc serves as the ES Technical Career Path (TCP) regional board chair for the Americas, chartered with growing the technical community. Prior to this, he was the HP Enterprise Services chief technologist for the IT Infrastructure Outsourcing (ITO) global business unit. Marc provided the overall architectural leadership and strategy within the ITO team, provided a conduit for disruption via the VC community and external innovation, as well as expanding the connections across Enterprise Services and HP. Previously Marc was the ES chief technologist for the Americas regions, where his focus was to influence, shape, and drive ES’ perception in the market and into key accounts through technology leadership and innovation. Prior to joining ES, Marc served as director of Cloud and Hybrid Delivery Global Practice responsible for the services portfolio and strategy across HP Software Services. Before joining HP in 2004, Marc worked at a number of software and consulting startups, including two successful IPOs.
Steven Blackwell is the Vice President of Engineering for the Data Center Solutions business of Emerson Network Power. He manages a technology and research team focused on data center infrastructure devices and management technologies. His particular areas of interest include device intelligence, system management and control, and remote presence technologies. Steve brings over 30 years of engineering and management experience to the Emerson team, having held design and management positions with Motorola, Adtran, and Centillium prior to joining Avocent in 2003. His development experience includes hardware, firmware, software, and DSP design, and he holds 24 US patents in the fields of data communications and video processing. In previous roles, he participated in data communications standards development, serving in leadership positions in the ITU-T and in FSAN during the development of the foundational DSL standards. Steve is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Alabama (BSEE, 1986), and he holds an MBA from Nova Southeastern University (1996).
Mac Devine has 26 years of experience with networking and virtualization. He became an IBM Master Inventor in 2006, an IBM Distinguished Engineer in 2008 and is a Member of the IBM Academy of Technology since 2009. He served 2 years as the Chief Architect for IM System z Enterprise Software and 2 years as the CTO for IBM Cloud partnerships and client innovations within the IBM Corporate Strategy team. Mac Devine served 2 years as Director and CTO Cloud Portfolio within IBM Global Technology Services. He lead the technical due diligence for the SoftLayer acquisition which lead to the creation of IBM Cloud Services Division. He co-authored Springer’s Handbook of Cloud Computing used by colleges and universities. Mac Devine currently serves as Vice President and CTO of Networking and Innovation Services, IBM Cloud Division and also serves on the Internet of Things Community Advisory Board as well as the advisory boards for more than a dozen cloud companies.
Jim Hunter is the Chief Scientist and Technology Evangelist of Greenwave Systems. He is responsible for oversight of technology, architecture and innovation of the AXON Platform. As Technology Evangelist, Jim promotes the Greenwave platform and technology message through industry engagement. Prior to joining Greenwave Systems, Jim led Motorola Mobility’s (a division of Google) architecture and strategy for driving the future of the smart, simple connected home. During this time, Jim invented several key patents and served on several patent boards mentoring other inventors. In December 2010, Jim joined Motorola Mobility through the acquisition of 4Home, a company he founded and served as CTO and Chief Architect. Earlier in his career, Jim founded Premise Systems, the first IP-based connected home platform company, which was acquired by Motorola in 2003. Jim’s specialties include Software Architecture, User Interface Design and Development and Intellectual Property Development. Jim is a passionate inventor and futurist, inventing a number of patents across a broad spectrum including data algorithms, user interaction, contextual data and device management. Prior to the advent of the connected home, Jim served in the US Navy as a Nuclear Engineer and Nuclear Certified Instructor.
Mark Thirman – Mark has over 25 years of experience in executive, business development, and sales roles gathered in a broad range of telephony, infrastructure, networking, and computer companies. Currently working as an IoT Strategist for Telus Corporation. Most recently at Vodafone as Vice President Alternate Channels/M2M Americas, the world’s leading mobile operator, Mark worked on key partnerships with channels, operators, and emerging M2M solution providers. These partnerships focused on M2M/IoT and connecting things. At fleet/telematics platform provider Illume Software as VP BusDev, he evangelized mobile safety issues with telcos, software providers, government and trade groups, and corporations. Previously, Mark was the founder/CEO of AirPrint Networks, an early-stage secure connected printer/document management platform provider. Mark’s prior positions include executive roles in business and market development at Pingtel Corp (acquired by Nortel)., GTE Internetworking (now Verizon), VideoServer, VTEL, PictureTel (now Polycom). Mark is the board chairman (emeritus) for AccesSportAmerica, a national non-profit that adapts and teaches high-challenge sports to children and adults with disabilities (www.accessportamerica.org). Mark studied piano performance at Michigan State University and the Berklee College of Music. Mark is active with the MIT Enterprise Forum and is a frequent guest lecturer at MIT and Tufts University along with many conferences and events including IOT Slam, IoT Evolution, GoMobile, Body Computing (USC) and others.
