Walton Smith is a principal in Booz Allen’s Strategic Innovation Group leading the firm’s Internet of Things initiative. In this role, he manages a team of strategists, engineers, and innovators who are working together to develop integrated solutions to some of the world’s toughest challenges. Walton also leads the firm’s partnerships with several industry leaders and is driving development of the Booz Allen Innovation Center, scheduled to open early next year. The Innovation Center will accelerate innovation by enabling employees to ideate, incubate, develop, and promote solutions such as: a standards-based IoT mobile framework and integration platform; location-based security systems; facility monitoring systems; predictive intelligence platforms; and a wearable technology exosystem that provides real-time information into incident and crisis response.
Prior to leading the IoT initiative, Walton managed the firm’s Strategic Alliances. In that role, he brought together multinational hardware, software, networking, and remote computing corporations with Booz Allen’s world class consulting operations to solve client problems. He also led Booz Allen’s Collaboration, Mobility, and Social Media practice; as well as internal corporate strategies to bolster enterprise collaboration and knowledge management. Walton’s teams have delivered award-winning solutions for large financial institutions, oil and gas companies, and government and not-for-profit organizations.
Walton earned a B.A. degree in Political Science from Brown University and an M.B.A. degree in E-Commerce, Telecommunications and Marketing from Vanderbilt University.
