Biography

Rebekah Butterfield, MPH, is a Principle Scientist for Health Surveillance and Research. She is an infectious disease epidemiologist, with expertise studying and responding to community outbreaks and high-risk pathogens.
Rebekah joined Oracle Health Innovation in 2021, where began work with partners across the healthcare ecosystem to identify and address the biggest barriers to prevention, intervention, and research. Her most recent work focuses on enabling health and life sciences efforts to ensure access and usability for public health,
government, and life sciences use cases, incorporating population, clinical, genomic, and multimodal determinants of health data.
Prior to joining Oracle, Rebekah work as an epidemiologist for the Richmond and Henrico Health Departments, focusing on the disease dynamics of key respiratory diseases and hospital-acquired infections, leading outbreak investigations, developing mitigation protocols, and advising both private and government entities in prevention and response efforts. She also served as a strategy consultant in outreach efforts aimed at providing underserved populations with enhanced health equity through access and education. Rebekah received her Master of Public Health degree from the University of West Florida, where she now holds an adjunct instructor position.
