James H. Willig, MD, MSPH
Biography
James H. Willig, MD, MSPH, serves as a Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases and the Associate Dean of Clinical Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine. His research interests in quality improvement and medical informatics have found expression in both research into quality issues in HIV primary care and the design of software to enhance research and education. Dr. Willig has led the development of many significant software projects at UAB including the HIV/AIDS Computerized Patient Record v.2 (used for chronic disease care for a clinic with over 2,500 active patients from 2006-2012), the PRO Software Platform (real time PRO capture in clinical care settings), Kaizen Education (gamification in education, over 20,000 users), Connection to Care (at home monitoring of diabetic care goals), and other applications over the past 11 years.
