Abstract:

The LF Edge project that is hosted by the Linux Foundation is the main focus of the Open Retail Reference Architecture (ORRA) is a group whose purpose is to create a base foundation for retail-centric edge applications for building best-in-class retail experiences. Come join this session to learn from some of the ORRA members how to best leverage the EdgeX Foundry open-source project to deploy a retail focused platform for edge-native deployments with consistent integration methods to make the integration of edge applications with your cloud ecosystem as easy as possible.

Speakers:

ZebraBill Inzeo is the Global Retail Technology Strategist for Zebra Technologies, responsible for identifying the most impactful technology solutions that align to the top challenges facing Zebra’s retail customers today, and in the future. Prior to joining Zebra, Bill was the Senior Director of Strategic Analytics, Systems and Support for Walgreens Asset Protection Solutions. In his role at Walgreens, he was responsible for maximizing the profitability of 9,000+ retail locations and was one of the company’s Subject Matter Experts for Total Retail Loss, leveraging technology and analytics to optimize Walgreens inventory performance, enable the Walgreens associate team and deliver a differentiating customer experience.

As Chief of Staff & Innovation Strategy of TIBCO’s Office of the CTO, Jesús Centeno helps large organizations and strategic partners understand the always changing technology landscape. As a technology advocate, Jesús helps customers determine the best strategy for adopting new technology platforms and injecting innovation into their product & service development lifecycles. And, as a partner advocate, he draws on 20 years’ experience and knowledge of artificial intelligence, augmented reality, blockchain, IoT technologies, machine learning, and others, to help partners find creative solutions that lead to higher revenue streams and an expanded market footprint. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey University in Mexico and an MBA from the University of Maryland.

As part of Intel’s Health and Life Sciences and Emerging Technologies division, Brad Corrion leads a team focused on edge architecture, IOT platforms, open source software, and democratizing innovation through external and internal partnerships. Brad Corrion has been with Intel 24 years with a background in software engineering, IoT, retail and security.

Eric Simone is the Founder and CEO of ClearBlade Inc., an Enterprise Edge Computing Internet of Things (IoT) software company focused on large Enterprises in the transportation, building facilities, and connected products markets. Prior to starting ClearBlade, Eric was the founder and CTO of Compete Incorporated, which sold to Perficient Inc. (PRFT) for $63M in May of 2000. Earlier in his career, Eric achieved success in senior engineering, product and sales positions at IBM and Johns Hopkins Hospital. Eric has a degree in Computer Science from Purdue University and is a recognized Distinguished Alumni. Eric resides in Austin, Texas with his wife Toni and 2 sons, Xander and Dexter.

SASDan Mitchell has 20+ years of experience helping retailers use business applications, analytics and technology, Including: Omnichannel Analytics, Retail IoT, Connected Customer, Smart Store, Customer insights, Marketing Optimization, Social Media & Text Analytics, Merchandise Planning, Allocation, Price Optimization, Demand Forecasting, Assortment Optimization, Store Localization and Segmentation, Planogramming & Inventory optimization.

Henry Lau is a Distinguished Technologist with Retail and Industry Solutions team of HP Inc.  He leads the software architecture design of HP’s Retail Android systems and Retail Edge solutions.  His responsibility spans the full cycle product development from concept to development to launch.  Henry serves on the Governing Board and Technical Advisory Council of LF Edge as well as lead of Vertical Solutions working group of EdgeX Foundry project.

IBMJoe Pearson is a Technology Strategist working within the IBM Networking and Edge Computing CTO group.  He is a member of the LF Edge Technical Advisory Council (TAC), and serves as Technical Steering Committee (TSC) Chair of the Open Horizon open-source edge computing project hosted by the Linux Foundation.  Joe is a maintainer with the Open Retail Reference Architecture (ORRA) project, currently incubating within the EdgeX Foundry open-source project.  And in his spare time, he participates in the Smart Agriculture (SmartAg) Special Interest Group within Open Horizon where he’s hoping to cultivate a green thumb.
