Abstract:

The IoT Community® presents a Mobility, Connectivity in IoT Center of Excellence (MCIoTCoE) panel will discuss the first steps in the digital transform process that a company must do to support next generation architectures for high demanding IoT data to be available and responsive everywhere. To really get the benefits of 5G, we will discuss the key new infrastructure principals to help ensure that it can be built, delivered, and maintained with a secure assurance on performance.

Brenda Boehm is currently Interim Chief Innovation Security Officer, Board Advisor and Member of IoT Community Board of Advisers a senior executive who has made her career by bringing next generation wireless networks, cloud native transformation, edge, and security technologies to the emerging global marketplace. Brenda’s deep industry expertise is based upon her successful leadership roles at both the executive and board levels with various innovation-focused technology companies from entrepreneurial start-ups: Starent Networks, Tango Networks, and Cyphre to Fortune 100 leaders: Cisco, Nortel, Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia. This uniquely broad set of experiences and skills have equipped her with the insight to create a market vision that recognizes industry disruption, an ability to harness change for innovation, develop global market reach, and ensure the most successful operational best practices. As her passion is with emerging technologies, she has been recently focused on the capabilities of the various opportunities that Internet of Things creates, with the support of edge computing, the required foundational security, and potential blockchain technologies. Brenda Boehm holds a MS from SMU’s School of Engineering in Telecommunications and a Bachelors (BA) in Computer Information Systems (CIS) from the University of Louisiana. She also attended Stanford’s prestigious Graduate School of Business Executive Program, Advanced Computer Security Certification, and, last year, completed the top CISO certification program globally available at Carnegie Mellon.

Rahul Vijay is a key partner to business development teams in managing partner-supplier ecosystems. He is also a Key partner to CFOs to successfully achieve total cost of ownership reduction goals, a Key partner to CTOs for technology renting and buying strategies, a Key partner to chief legal officers for risk reduction, compliance and contracting. Rahul has end-to-end source to pay experience including partnerships, sourcing, procurement, supply chain, logistics, contract law, systems, market drivers, understanding of cost structures and sales incentives. Regularly engages in executive presentations, reporting, capital and expense planning, cost modeling, inventory planning and analytics. Rahul is a seasoned deal-maker and negotiator and is well networked in high-tech industry with a deep understanding of key players and emerging technologies and trends. He possess a trusted network of global peers and mentors and regularly partners with organizational presidents and directors to develop business cases, perform due diligence analyses and Buy vs. Rent vs. Build strategies. He is an expert in supplier management and risk management. Have led teams to effectively partner up with cross-functional teams to ‘get things done quickly’ in complex large organizations. Rahul is adept at internal selling and have built teams from scratch. Managed multiple complex global teams and initiatives by hiring best talent, building strong working relationships with key internal and external partners, securing ‘a seat at the table’ with stakeholders, and acting as a trusted adviser. Former business development professional, management consultant, media professional and engineer.

Stephen Douglas works for Spirent’s strategy organization heading the 5G practice, helping to define technical direction, new innovative solutions and market leading disruptive technologies. With over 20 years’ experience in telecommunications, Stephen has been at the cutting edge of next generation technologies and has worked across the industry with service providers, start-ups and network equipment manufacturers, helping them drive innovation and transformation. Stephen is an ardent believer in connected technology and strives to challenge, blur and break down the silos that prevent innovation and business success.

Wayne Irwin VP – Operations – Emerging Business at Ericsson, and is a customer centric and solution oriented Technology Executive with over 30 years of progressive global sales, operations and business management experience. He has a track record of successfully implementing organizational transformations and business growth to achieve measurable business outcomes. Through his leadership, his teams solve complex business issues with well architected solutions based on a combination of products, services, and software platforms. Throughout his career, Wayne has been involved in a number of disruptive technology markets and continues to be engaged technological impacts on how people and businesses live and operate. Prior to Ericsson, Wayne worked at Intel, where he lead a team that is focused on developing a robust ecosystem in the IoT to provide joint solutions, solving significant market problems that are scalable and sustainable. His team was instrumental in developing this ecosystem of Technology Partners in support of Intel’s key vertical business units and overall Intel business objectives. Prior to Intel, he served as Senior Vice President and GM of the Embedded and Connected Services division of Symphony Services (global technology development and services), President of the Americas division for Acision – (SMS (text messaging) platforms to telecommunications operators), President & COO of Aperian (data center management) and many different positions at GTE (now Verizon). Wayne holds an MBA – finance from Xavier University and a BSBA in Marketing from Central Michigan University.

Vico Fiorese has more than 25 years dedicated to the Telco industry, experience doing business development in Latin American and United States, during the last 2 years focused on helping the Rural America players to increase connectivity using CBRS and EBS license. Borne in Brazil, with Italian roots and fully educated in the Latin America school of life! Proud to become US Citizen this year and to help this amazing country to improve the use of IoT technologies.

Sam McGuire is the Vice President of Red Mountain Scientific. He works with stakeholders across the wireless industry to deploy UAS (drone) and image analytics technologies in an effort to better assess, understand, and manage critical infrastructure. While Sam has spent the majority of his career working for early to mid stage startups, he has also served the telecom industry as a field technician. He spent nearly a year in field climbing and conducting structural inspections on over 500 towers across the US. Following his time in the field, he joined RMS to help build their telecom product offerings from the ground up. Sam believes the telecom industry is inherently the greatest driver of global innovation and that effectively enabling worldwide communication starts with infrastructure.
