Panel Discussion: Challenges and a Path Forward for Industrial IoT and Intelligent Manufacturing

Session Abstract:

We are excited to bring a line of up industry experts that we share their views regarding Industrial IoT challenges in Intelligent Manufacturing. This is part of a new Center of Excellence being launched by the IoT Community for Intelligent Manufacturing. This panel will share their views regarding challenges being observed in regards to applied AI/ML, Connnected Worker, Machine vision and robotics, OT cybersecurity, Connectivity and Supply Chain. In addition the challenges, the panel will also contribute to a path forward to maximize the business outcomes that can be afforded by leveraging Industrial IoT.

Speakers:

Guy Merritt, is an experienced C-suite executive, Guy has 35 years engineering leadership advising and developing IoT solutions, native cloud-based systems, products and engineering & manufacturing test solutions for a wide variety of industries. He is an author of the award-winning book “Proactive Risk Management: Controlling Uncertainty in Product Development.

ZebraSath Rao, is part of Office of the CTO at Zebra Technologies in his current role as Director – Global Manufacturing Strategy. He is responsible for enhancing industry capabilities, manufacturing strategy, synthesizing solutions, and delivering on the digital transformation agenda. Sath in his prior roles worked with Hitachi Vantara, PTC, Schneider Electric and analyst and consulting firm Frost and Sullivan among other companies. Sath is thought leader on transformative industry vision, with track record of driving growth acceleration and innovation in areas that include SaaS, Human-2-Machine convergence, edge-to-cloud technologies, IIoT and AI. He was a former member of the Board of Governors of Manufacturing Leadership Council – part of National Association of Manufacturer, and a current council member.

Terry LeDoux has 33 Years experience in Pet Food Manufacturing leading Industry 3.0 and Industry 4.0. Directly responsible for an IT organization of 350 people across North America and Latin America. Direct experience implementing ERP, MES (Manufacturing Execution System), and Controls systems. Most recently led our company through a rapid implementation of Industry 4.0 Connected Worker and ML/AI technologies requiring deployment of 6000 iPads to factory floor operators. Applications deployed include RedZone, Poka, Augury. Everactive, Indeavor, and may other applications.

Will Keller, Sr. Project Leader (Machine Vision)/ Robotics, General Motors, Developed machine vision requirements for 2D error proofing. Evaluated several machine vision suppliers. Selected a global common supplier for vision equipment for GM. Currently developing standard machine vision interfaces and solutions to reducecost and improve General Motors production systems. Currently evaluating 3D machine vision systems.
