Mobility and Connectivity CoE Panel – Architecting for Future Scalability in IoT: Challenges and Solutions
Session Abstract:
Scalability is one of the most pivotal factors when planning for large-scale IoT implementation. It is crucial to choose the right technologies with the right infrastructure along with considering the challenges of geographical distribution over wide areas, connectivity through various networks, device integration and orchestration, and security and privacy management. Scaling IoT is inherently complex and requires the right solutions to scale the intricate technology stack of IoT. In this session, we will discuss the fundamental challenges with scaling IoT at different levels of software, hardware and connectivity coverage and bandwidth tradeoffs, and increasing cost. We will also cover the solutions one must consider to safeguard the long-term operability of the IoT system.
