Applying AI to the Enterprise with IoT: Case Studies, Challenges, Benefits and Need for New Frameworks

Session Abstract:

IoT Slam 2016 Internet of Things Conference Economic Strategy InstituteIn the past year, firms such as Caterpillar and Tesla have adopted “Live Factories” to collect information from all the machines in a single facility and quickly adjust them to reduce down-time and disruptions. This talk examines whether adding AI to an IoT architecture provides substantial economic benefits. Tech-oriented enterprises have managed supply chains and dealer networks better with IoT. The question we address here is whether the addition of AI promotes larger gains. We will build this talk on previous case studies on firms such as Boeing, Rolls-Royce and John Deere. We will also explore how much enterprises gain by adding AI to IoT deployments. The talk will also explore whether the gains from using “intelligent machines” is correlated with the magnitude of effort enterprises have made to improve their digital skills and work forces.
