Thank you for you interest to speak at the IoT Slam X 2019 virtual conference. Here are all the details you need to make your submission, Please Visit https://iotslam.com/iot-slam-x-paper-submission/ to make your submission.
Themes & Focus Areas: Industry & Technology Alignment
As the growth in data acquisition across many facets of everyday life grows new opportunities emerge to create new services, or better serve existing customers. As the collection of data reaches further in to our everyday lives industry sectors need to be open to the opportunities that this new knowledge offers, from simply being more efficient to see completely new business opportunities and develop and implement aligned offerings that can demonstrate value and ROI. IoT Slam seeks to break down IoT into bite-sized, consumable areas of cutting edge thought leadership.
We are looking for speakers and presentations around the vertical and technological application of IoT across core industries – founded on core business / technology domain specialism and expertise. This image highlights our 2019 thematic focus and general coverage areas of the IoT Slam X / future IoT Slam events:
Security, privacy & trust
Topping the list of enterprise, governments and society concerns about an ever more connected world is the issue of keeping data secure. With the arrival in the home of smart devices that listen for and react to user commands, privacy and trust are taken to a new level too. As the consumerized world enters the business premise, this poses further risks and challenges to overcome for enterprises. Developers, Makers, and the companies that market IoT devices have moral and legal responsibilities to ensure they stand up to rigorous scrutiny in how they handle this responsibility.
IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things)
The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is taking shape and traditional heavy industry is embracing IoT at a rate faster than cloud. Source (IoT Community). As many stakeholders represent foundations to critical infrastructures, it is of vital importance to get the digital transformation right. As Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, and other sectors introduce more and more interconnected sensors, instruments, and other devices networked together with computers’ industrial applications, this connectivity allows for data collection, exchange and analysis, potentially facilitating improvements in productivity and efficiency as well as other economic benefits. But as with any journey, it needs the right pathway. This track will explore all things relating to how IIoT enables a higher degree of automation by using cloud / edge computing to refine and optimize the process controls. Enabling Technology, Connected devices, Connected machines, Connected people, and Predictive maintenance.
Analytics and big data
The promise of increasing volumes of more timely data (in theory) should lead to better informed business decision making. Ultimately businesses, whatever their size, need useful / relevant data to enable them to spot new market opportunities; expose inefficiencies within their organization and allow their businesses to quickly adapt to better meet the needs of their customers. As the world becomes ever more connected how do we a harness the data we are generating in a meaningful way that can deliver real benefits to businesses and their consumers?
Connectivity and infrastructure (Smart Cities, Flying Cars & 5G)
With the introduction of 5G, next-gen networks and new advances in Artificial intelligence expected to hit the marketplace in 2019, coupled with increased cross border trade stimulated by real time connectivity, the importance of both robust infrastructure and the harmonisation of regulations are becoming ever more important. In many instances the laws of countries are struggling to adapt and keep up with the pace of technology. Investment in the infrastructures to enable smarter buildings, social mobility, and improved efficiencies is presenting nations with opportunities to level the global playing field. Leading economies are raising the bar looking to flying cars, and autonomous vehicles as their next growth engine.
The growth of interest among consumers in technologies that are seen to offer lifestyle enhancements is both stimulating investment at corporate level and leading to the expansion of ideas that be tailored to offer practical benefits. With wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth already established in the domestic environment there are established technologies that communication can be built around. Devices and services that harness existing wireless technology in the home are likely to achieve greater penetration and acceptance. Building the links seamlessly between the end user and the host are critical to widespread adoption.
Application AI (Artificial Intelligence) & Machine Learning
In 2018, AI took a huge leap forward to realizing its true potential. 2019 is the year AI comes of age in the Enterprise and Industrial IoT space as more and more real time data and software that learns from continuous data streams creates opportunities to automate, replacing complex manual manpower processes. The POC presented and use-cases are endless; from Anticipating customer demand and spotting where opportunities and risks are, would historically have required human interaction to analyze the data. 24/7 data streams can be analysed automatically and at a very practical scale continuous weather data can automatically trigger alerts to send fleets of road gritters out at night to ensure the roads are safe for use the following morning. Automated vehicles continually feeding back data have the capability to activate the replanning of routes to keep traffic flowing efficiently at peak times.
User applications & business use-cases for IoT
What is the problem you are trying to solve with your IoT strategy? if the solution does not outweigh the problem you are trying to solve then you are probably looking at the application of IoT in a less than desirable way. IoT offers is the ability for the world to become more smart leading to much more effective use of resources. As more of our daily tasks are continuously monitored a better understanding of peak energy consumption and the ability to match power generation to real time demand, rather than just through historical planning will lead to a significant reduction in wasted energy. For businesses applications that lead to greater operating efficiencies and for individuals monitoring that leads to better energy management and leads to lower utility bills are already being adopted. The ever increasing pressures on global resources will only accelerate demand for practical applications that deliver tangible benefits.
We invite thought leaders in the above areas to present a talk at this years IoT Slam X showing how their experiences can be applied, and what lessons were learned.
