Biography

Bruce Bailey

Bruce Bailey is a Senior Advisor and Program Manager for Smart Buildings at UL (Underwriters Laboratories), where he has also served as the VP of Renewables within the Energy and Power Technologies division. Bruce coordinates business and technical solutions for smart buildings for UL and collaborates with smart city and smart grid programs to achieve common sustainability, resiliency, and economic goals.In 2016 UL acquired Bruce’s firm—AWS Truepower, LLC—which he founded in the early 1980s. AWS was a global technical advisory services firm that worked for large windfarm and solar project developers, the investment community, utilities, and government agencies. He oversaw work on behalf of more than 120,000 MW of proposed and existing projects. Prior to starting AWS, he was a tenured research scientist at SUNY Albany. Bruce earned a doctorate in Engineering Management and a B.S. in Meteorology. He has chaired several industry conferences, served on association boards, and been a US Department of Energy program reviewer. He has authored numerous publications and contributed to two books. He enjoys tennis, golf, and reading fiction thrillers.
