Lessons Learned from Building a Nationwide Network for M2M/IoT

Slide Deck

Session Abstract

In 2015, Meterlinq, a provider of secure telemetry and remote-management infrastructure for smart metering and smart grid services, announced it was building a nationwide public M2M network across Italy with its partner, Ingenu, to support smart metering and other initiatives across the country.

Meterlinq already has worked with gas utility providers to retrofit over 1,000 gas meters to date, and plans to add approximately 10,000 more by mid-2016, with a longer-term vision to support many types of smart meters on the public network, including water and electricity meters, across Italy.

Along the way, the company has fine-tuned its best practices for:

  1. scaling the network from one province to many
  2. maximizing coverage and capacity for the country-side buildout
  3. securing uplink/downlink transmissions

This session would include speakers from Meterlinq and Ingenu, and discuss best practices and practical considerations for building out a network specifically designed for M2M and IoT.
