Headline Opening Keynote – The IoT in Your Utilities

Abstract:

Assets, equipment, and end users of utilities span across vast geographic areas. These “Things” in utilities infrastructures are becoming more and more connected, creating highly distributed IoT overlay infrastructures. The role of sensors, data acquisition, edge compute, and management networks can greatly increase customer satisfaction and lower costs — but also increase the vulnerability of utilities, homes, and businesses to various risks. Dr. Tom will discuss several IoT solutions trends for the utilities industry and their related business value. In addition, a special guest from the utilities industry, Adriana Karaboutis, Chief Information and Digital Officer, National Grid, will share insights into the real world benefits of employing IoT solutions in mass electricity and gas distribution.
