Biography

Phillip Morris

Phillip is Head of Regional Architecture at Dimension Data (Asia Pacific Region) where he is the leader of the regional architect team for managed services to help customers become more flexible and agile, while avoiding future operational costs and the stress of keeping everything operating efficiently and smoothly. This covers everything from basic managed operations for networks or data center operations up through entire outsourcing arrangements. Previously, Phillip Morris was at BT where he was responsible for the design and delivery of large scale complex solutions throughout AMEA. His areas of specialty include cloud computing, big data analytics, IoT / Smart projects, high-performance computing and cyber-security architecture.

Phillip has 30 years of experience in the ICT field and has been a recognized leader with technical expertise in security, systems & data center architecture, cloud computing, big data analytics, high performance computing (HPC), design for efficiency (at the application, VM, ICT and DC infrastructure levels), data center infrastructure design (achieved the 1st LEED Platinum data center in Japan), and O&M (operations and maintenance).  He is a very well regarded manager, especially of remote resources and distributed groups. Phillip is also a highly sought after speaker for conferences, executive briefings and webinars. Prior to joining BT, Phillip was the CTO at Platform Computing helping to drive them from pure HPC cluster management into cloud computing automation and management as well as an enterprise ready version of Hadoop, providing higher availability and faster processing.

The function of the IoT Community, is to focus on the adoption & application of IoT in commercial environments, seeking to understand & contribute to applying the technology or overcoming the wide variety of barriers, inhibitors, and technical & operational issues. As a member of the board, Phillip will provide impartial input and guidance to the overall vision, strategy and execution that is helping to shape the current and future direction for the IoT Community, as well as the broader IoT industry.
