IoT Data and Analytics – where the value is in IoT OD

Slide Deck

Session Abstract:

IoT Slam 2015 Virtual Internet of Things Conference machina-research-logoIoT data and analytics are emerging as significant and important aspects of IoT solutions. As more and more ‘things’ are connected, the opportunities and advantages for enterprises to capture, analyse and create value from the growing amount of data has become the next big thing in IoT. But getting this right involves substantial changes to the way we think about data ingestion, data storage, data analysis and visualizations. The purpose of the session will be to share many of these changes to be considered and explored by enterprises, and ultimately help guide many enterprises through this growing complexity in data management.

Speaker:

Emil Berthelsen
Principal Analyst Machina Research

Emil Berthelsen is a Principal Analyst at Machina Research, leading the Enterprise IoT stream, and focuses on Big Data, data analytics, Enterprise IoT Platforms and SLAs. Prior to joining Machina Research, Emil worked at Analysys Mason, KPMG Consulting, BT Consulting, and Alexander Proudfoot plc, building more than 25 years of experience in management, strategic and research consulting.

From a consulting background, Emil has concentrated on and delivered projects in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) industry, and in the past six years, focused on emerging technology and business areas such as mobile enterprise applications, mobile payments, APIs, developer communities, M2M, IoT and Big Data. This has led to a significant number of research and consulting projects, advising global clients on new M2M/IoT products, services and market opportunities, identifying new channels and strategic partnerships, and providing market sizing, competitor intelligence and insights around these emerging market and technology trends.

Emil has chaired, presented and led panel discussions at M2M, IoT and Big Data conferences in Europe, Asia, Africa and the US, and contributes regularly to articles on these topics in industry journals, online news portals and blog services. More recently, Emil has started to research and speak on the changes from M2M to IoT, the business transformation led by Enterprise IoT and the impact Enterprise IoT has on data management, analytics, platforms and SLAs for enterprises. Emil holds an MPhil in International Relations from Cambridge University.
